Tips for A Weekend Getaway to Charleston

The ideal getaway for spring or fall is Charleston, SC. Its architecture, history, and food scene have earned the city a reputation as the quintessential Southern city—not to mention the top spot on Travel + Leisure'sWorld's Best Cities list. You could spend day after day making your way from one amazing restaurant to the next and walking the scenic city streets every night—but sometimes a long weekend is all you have.

Last minute, I booked a flight about 3 weeks prior so downtown hotels were not available since it was the weekend of 2 major events. They had the Cooper Bridge Run and Masters in Georgia. Opted to stay around the airport at the Marriott North Charleston which was very affordable and a 10-15 minute drive to downtown.

To plan your travel here are the steps you can take:

1) Book your flight. Cheap Air always has

always great deals !

2) Book your hotel. you can use sites such as Booking Buddy.

3) You can either book a rental car or, ride-share around if you're not staying downtown.

4) For activites, there's lots to do like shopping downtown and sight-seeing. Go to Viator and book them ahead of time to ensure you have a spot.

Some of the famous things to do are:

Historic Horse and Carriage Tour of Charleston - if you purchase onsite, it will be $50 vs $40.

Magnolia Plantation with Transportation - Best to purchase in advance as well since ride-share availability is unpredictable. Unless, you choose to have a rental car, you can purchase your ticket at the window which is only $29 for general admission. You will need to pay extra for the other activities. Check out my Instagram for a video of the tour HERE.
